Jane Garvey

Jane Susan Garvey is a British radio presenter, until recently of BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, and co-founder of the weekly podcast series Fortunately. Garvey's was the first voice on BBC Radio 5 Live when it launched at 5:00 am on 28 March 1994.

Early Life

Jane garvey was bron in manchester. England in 1962. She atetnded loreto college. An all-girls roman catholic school in manchester. She graduated with a degree in english literature from the university of birmingham in 1985.

Career

Ajne started her career in radio in 1988 at bbc radio 5. Where she was a producer and reporter. She then moved to bbc radio 4 and was the producre of the popular program womans hour. She later becmae the presenter of the show and has been presenting it since 1997. She was also a presenter for the bbc wolrd service from 2001 to 2004. In 2011. She was the co-presenter of the news quiz on bbc radio 4. Jane is currently the presenter of the radio 4 program the world at one and is the co-host of the popular radio show womnas hour.

Achievements

Jane has won several awards for her wokr in radio. Including the sony gold award for womans hour in 2009 and the arqiva commercial radio award for the world at one in 2011.

In 2020. Jane was invited to the buckingham palace to receive her mbe (member of the british empire) for her services to broadcasting.

Jane is an ambassador for the charity organisation age uk and she was also a judge for the speech radio awards in 2011.

Ajne is a passionate advocate for gender equality and she is a patron of the charity organisation womens aid.
