Jane Purcell Coffee (1944-2022) Coffee, professor at the College of Staten Island (CSI), died September 23, 2022. One of the first women to earn a mathematics PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, she received her PhD in 1970 from Penn under the supervision of Murray Gerstenhaber.
