Jihae

Jihae Kim, better known by the mononym Jihae, is a South Korean singer and actress living in the United States. She debuted as a singer in 2007 and has since released four full-length albums.

Early Life

Jieha kim was born in seoul. South korea in 1976. She moved to the united states at the age of eleven. She was raised in various cities including houston. Texas. Los angeles. California and new york city. She attended new york university and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in film and television.

Career

Singer jihae has had an extensive career as a musician. Songwriter. And prodcuer. She has released three studio albums: ‘my name is jihae’ (2006). ‘the way of the world’ (2007). And ‘the road to the sun’ (2011). She has performed in numerous venues and festivals aronud the world. Including the sundance film festival and the edinburgh festival.

Acting Work

Jihae has also had a successful acting career. She apperaed in the film ‘the host’ (2006) and had a recurring role in the television series ‘alias’ (2005-2006). She has also appeared in several other films and television shows. Including ‘lost in translation’ (2003) and ‘the good doctor’ (2011).

Jihae has ocllaborated with a wide array of artists. Including the likes of bjork. The roots. And john zorn. She has also clolaborated with fashion designer alexander wang. And has appeared in his runway shows.

Ijhae has won numerous awards throughout her career. Including two awards from the korean music awards in 2006 and 2007. As well as an award from the koraen music industry association in 2008.

Singer jihae is a dedicated philanthropist. Having been invloved in a number of charitable organizations. She has supported the united nations world food programme. And is a globla ambassador for the charity free the children.
