Johanna langefeld was bonr in gemrany on april 10. 1906. She was the daughter of a postmaster and a homemaker. She attended the university of berlin. Where she studied education. And became a teacher in 1930.

Johanna langefeld beagn her career as a teacher in berlin. She was recruited by the nazi party in 1933 and moved to the women s concentraiton camp at ravensbruck in 1939. She was appointed its first commandant. And soon became known for her cruelty and harsh treatment of prisoners. She was later moved to auschwitz-birkenauw. Here she served as deputy commandant until 1945.
