John Behnken Life story
John William Behnken was the sixth president of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod from 1935 to 1962. He previously served as president of the Synod's Texas District from 1926 to 1929. Behnken was born on March 19, 1884, in Cypress, Texas, the eldest child of the Rev. George William Behnken and Helen née Wunderlich.
