John Colepeper, 1st Baron Culpeper of Thoresway was an English royalist landowner, military adviser and politician who, as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Master of the Rolls was an influential counsellor of King Charles I during the English Civil War, who rewarded him with a peerage and some landholdings in Virginia.
