Joseph Lazarevich Poliakoff was a Ukrainian-born British telephone and sound engineer and inventor, particularly of hearing aids. Poliakoff was a Ukrainian who experienced first-hand the communist revolution in Russia from the family's Moscow flat across from the Kremlin.
