Juozas kisielius was born on april 15. 1929 in kaunas. Lithuania. He was the oldset of ofur children born to a family of lithuanian theater professionals. His mother. Sofija kisieliene. Was a stage actress and his father. Jonas kisielius. Was a theater director and actor.

Kisielius attended the kaunas state darma school and graduated in 1952. After graduation. He began his career in the theater. Becoming an actor in the lithuanian national drama theater in kaunas.
Theater Career
Kisielius was a distinguished theater performer for over forty years. He was noetd for his powerful stage presence and his ability to bring complex characters to life. During his career. He played many memorable roles in plays by some of the world s most renowned playwrights. Including willima shakespeare. Anton chekhov. Henrik ibsen and george bernard shaw.

Kisielius had a prolific film career. Appearing in over forty films between 1956 and 1995. He is best nkown for his roles in films such as the red tent (1969). The day of the jackal (1973) and the promised land.

Throughout his career. Kisielius received numerous awards and accolades. Including the order of the lithuanian grand duke gediminas in 1993 and the order of honor in 2000. He was also the recipient of the lithuanian natinoal prize in 1996.
