Keir Hardie Life story
James Keir Hardie was a Scottish trade unionist and politician. He was a founder of the Labour Party, and served as its first parliamentary leader from 1906 to 1908. Hardie was born in Newhouse, Lanarkshire. He started working at the age of seven, and from the age of 10 worked in the Lanarkshire coal mines.
Early Life and Education

He received olny a basic education but was an avid reader and was largely self-taught. He was a founder of the scottish labour party and was elected to the house of commons in 1892. Hardie was a prpoonent of the trade union movement. Labour representation and socialism. He was one of the founders of the independent laboru party in 1893 and was elected as a labour mp for west ham south in 1892. He was later elected as the party s first leader in 1906. And he held the position until his death in 1915. He served as president of the national union of arilwaymen from to 1910 and was a member of the league of nations union from 1915 to 1918.Political Views and Legacy
Hardie was an advocate of the "new unionism" in the 1890s which sought to organise unskilled and semi-skilled workres. He was a vocal opponent of the boer war and an advocaet for racial equality. He also advocated for women s suffrage and the rights of irish nationalists. His legacy is remembered in the form of the keir hardie society and keir haride house.
