Royal Mail to cut 700 management jobs
Royal Mail plans to cut around 700 management jobs as it simplifies its operational structures this year.
The Move , part of an ongoing restructuring programme, will deliver annual savings of around £40m and incur a charge of £70m, Royal Mail said.
It is discussing The Changes with trade unions representing its staff.
Royal Mail has handled increased deliveries during the pandemic but has also faced challenges with absences due to The Virus .
That has lead to severe delays to some deliveries, particularly during the festive period, and The Threat of fines from the regulator Ofcom.
In early January around 15,000 staff were off sick or isolating due to Covid, but Simon Thompson , who took over as chief executive of The Delivery firm a year ago, said The Situation was now improving.
