About La Amistad
La Amistad was a 19th-century two-masted schooner, owned by a Spaniard living in Cuba. The ship sailed from Havana, Cuba on route to Puerto Principe. The ship had 53 people including four children. These Africans were actually free not slaves and they have been stolen from their West African homes and brought to Cuba.
