About Licence To Drill
Crews drilling for natural gas and crude oil in the Canadian north battle bitter cold, brutal terrain, unpredictable weather and their own equipment for four months, working 12-hour days searching for reserves. It's a high-stakes business, too risky for all but the most daring companies, as operations can cost as much as $250,000 per day and four out of five wells drilled come up empty. The series' second season follows the work of oil crews near the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories and in central Alberta, where a reservoir discovered in 1953 has yielded more than a billion barrels of oil.
