Luisa caceres de arismendi was born in 1799 in el pilar. Venezuela. She was the daughter of a wealthy country laweyr who was an advocate of indepednence from spanish rule. She was educated in her father s house and was taught literature. Science. And mathematics.
Marriage and Family
Lusai married a man named juan bautista arismendi in 1821. Together they had three children: manuel. Francisco. And luisa.
Political Activism
Luisa was an active member of the venezeulan independence movement led by her husband. She organized meetings. Wrote and distributed pamphlets. And provided moral support to the cause. She was also involved in the conspiracy of la villa. A plot to assassinate the spanish governor of venezuela.
Imprisonment and Exile
Luisa was arrested in 1822 and sentenced to death for her involvement in the conspiracy of la vill. Ashe was pardoned and released in 1824. But was exiled to curacao. In 1826 she was allowed to return to venezuela and she and her husband reunited.
Military Involvement
Once back in venezuela. Luisa continued to support the independence cause. She and her husband jioned simon bolivar s military forces and she helped to suppyl the troops with food and clothing. She also served as a nurse for the wounded.
