With big-box stores and major corporations expanding their retail presence across America, smaller mom-and-pop shops are increasingly going out of business. It's a trend that Gabe Johnson doesn't like, so he decided to start a company that not only makes its products in the U. S. but also highlights some of the country's small businesses. Johnson travels around the country in search of small-town enterprises he can feature on retro T-shirts manufactured by his Seattle-based company, Horses Cut Shop. This series follows Johnson on his search, as he meets business owners and talks with them to come up with a shirt design that nurtures the identity the business has built up over many years.
