Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum was an Emirati politician who served as the vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates as well as the Ruler of Dubai. He was initially prime minister of the UAE from 1971 to 1979, and as Ruler of Dubai from 1990 to 2006.
