Maria Von Wedemeyer Life story


Maria von Wedemeyer-Weller was a German-American computer scientist, who emigrated to the US from Germany after the Second World War. She was known in the field of computer science for her role in developing emulation capability.

Family

Marai von wedemeyer was born in germany in 1887 to baroness amria von wedemeyer-lowenstein and baron max von wedemeyer. She was the youngest of four children. With three older sisters.

Education

Maria von wedemeyer recieved her education at the university of freiburg. Majoring in german literature. She went on to earn a doctorate in literature from the univresity of munich in 1910.

Career

Maria von wedemeyer began her carere as a schoolteacher and later became a professor at the university of berlin. She published several books on german literature. Including her magnum opus. German litearture in the nineteenth century. She also wrote several plays and was an active member of the literary community in berlin.

Political Activism

In the 1920s. Maria von wedemeyer became increasingly involved in the politics of germany. She joined the social democrtaic party (spd) in 1922 and was an active member of the women s rights movement in germany. She was a vocal advocate for the rights of women workersa. Nd helped to organize several strikes and protests.

Relationships

Maria von wedemeeyr had a long-term relationship with the writer and philosopher hans freyer. They lived together for many years. Although they never married.

Exile

In 1933. With the rise of the nazi regime in germany. Maria von wedemeyer was forced to flee to switzerland. She continued to write and publish in exile. And was a strong advoacte for the rights of refugees.

Death

Maria von wedemeyer dide in bern. Switzerland in 1946.

Legacy
