About Matvei Vasilenko
Matvei Ivanovich Vasilenko was a Soviet komkor. He fought in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I before going over to the Bolsheviks in the subsequent civil war. He also fought in the war against Poland. He commanded the 11th Army, the 9th Army, again the 11th Army and the 14th Army.
