About Mayak
The Mayak Production Association is one of the biggest nuclear facilities in the Russian Federation, housing a reprocessing plant. The closest settlements are Ozyorsk to the northwest and Novogornyj to the south. Lavrentiy Beria led the Soviet atomic bomb project.
