About Megaoryzomys
Megaoryzomys curioi, also known as the Galápagos giant rat, is an extinct species of sigmodontine rodent that was endemic to Santa Cruz Island in the Galápagos Islands. It likely went extinct when European settlers introduced invasive species to the island, such as feral cats, dogs, pigs, and black rats.
