Michael Grebanier Life story
Michael Grebanier, who joined the San Francisco Symphony as principal cellist in 1977 and played an influential role in shaping the sound of his section for the ensuing four decades, died Dec. 19 in a San Francisco hospital. He was 82 and had been in poor health for several years.
