About Nancy Goes To Rio
A theater producer hires Nancy (Jane Powell) to star in his Rio de Janeiro-based show, but neglects to tell Nancy's superstar mother, Frances (Ann Sothern), that she's been replaced. Both believing they have the part, Nancy and Frances head south. But when Nancy realizes she'd be ousting her mother, she quits, misleading her mother to believe that she was on the ship to Brazil because she's about to marry a fellow passenger. As her lie is exposed, a romance blooms and the show gets its star.
