About Palmas
Palmas is the capital city of the state of Tocantins, in central Brazil. On the vast Praça dos Girassóis (Sunflower Square), the Memorial Coluna Prestes was designed by Oscar Niemeyer to honor the social revolution of the 1920s. South, a trail runs through Cesamar Park, which is also home to the Casa de Cultura history museum. Beaches along shores of the Tocantins River include Praia da Graciosa and Praia do Prata.
