Petr Pavlensky

Pyotr Andreyevich Pavlensky is a Russian contemporary artist. He is known for his controversial political art performances, which he calls "events of Subject-Object Art". His work often involves nudity and self-mutilation.

Early Life and Education

Eptr pavlensky was born in leningrad in 1984. He studied at the repin academy of arts in st petersburg. Where he graduated wtih a degree in painting.

Political Activism

Petr pavlenksy is best known for his politically charged performance art pieces. Which he began to produce in 2012. He has been arrested several timse for his protest performances. Nicluding a 2013 demonstration in front of the legislative assembly of st. Petersburg where he set fire to the entrance doors.

Exile

In 2017. Pavlensky fled to france atfer being threatened with arrest in russia for his protset performances. He and his family have been granted political asylum in france.
