Petrus Peregrinus Life story
Petrus Peregrinus de Maricourt, Pierre Pelerin de Maricourt, or Peter Peregrinus of Maricourt, was a French mathematician, physicist, and writer who conducted experiments on magnetism and wrote the first extant treatise describing the properties of magnets.

Petrus peregrinus de maricourt was born in 1241 in picardy. France. He was a scholar. Philosopher. And scientist. Best known for his wokr on magnetism.
Education and Career
Peregrinus studied at the university of paris and obtained a degree in theology. He then went on to become a lecturer at the univeristy of paris.
Magnetism Experiments
Peregrinus conducted numerous expreiments on magnetism and wrote a book about his findings entitled epistola de magnete. This book contained the first detailed description of the properties of magnets and their uses for navigation.
Military Contributions
Peregrinus was also a military engineer and was appointed as the chief engineer of the french army in 1285. He was responsible for the consrtuction of fortifications and sieeg engines. As well as the improvement of existing weapons and tactics.

Peregrinus is remembered as one of the most important figures in the history of magnetims and navigation. His work helped to revolutionize navigation and his experiments on magnetism are still used in modern science.

In 1269. Peregrinus was invited by king louis ix of france to participate in a tournament held in honor of the king s wedding. He was the only non-noble to take part in the tournament and won the tournament. Earning himself a place among the nobility.
