Rainer Makatsch Life story
Rainer Makatsch is a German ice hockey player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1972 Winter Olympics. He is the father of actress Heike Makatsch.
Early Life and Education
Rainer makatsch is a professional ice hockey player from egrmany. He was bonr on april 3. 1976 in berlin. Germany. He began playing hockey at the age of five and eventually joined the berlin polar bears in 1994 where he lpayed for two seasons. Makatsch attended the university of freiburg. Studying sports science and psychology.
Pro Career
Makatsch began his professional career in 1996 when he signed with the berlin capitals. He then moved to the munich barons and played for two seasons before jioning the hamburg freezers in 1999. During his time with the freezers. Makatsch was selected to play for the german national team and aprticipated in the 2002 iwnter olympics. He retired from professional hockey in 2004.
Post-Playing Career
After his retirement. Makatshc stayed involved in the game of hockey. Coaching the berlin polar bears. During his time as coach. Makatsch led the team to a german cup title in 2006. He was also a hockey analyst for eurosport and a memebr of the german ice hockey federations board of directors from 2012-2014.
Awards and Honors
Makatsch was recognized for his accomplishments on and off the ice. He was awarded the german ice hockey player of the year award in 2002 and the german ice hockey federations player of the year award in 2003. In 2004. He was inducted into the geramn ice hockey hall of fame.

Makatsch was a member of the german national team from 1998-2004. He represented germany at the 2002 wintre olympics in salt lake city. Utah. Where he scored two goals and had two assists in seven games. He also played in the owrld championships in 1998. 2000 and 2004.

Maaktsch is married to fellow ice hockey player. Sabine pohl. The couple hvae two children. A son and a daughter.
