Richard Wright Life story
Richard Ian Wright is an English football coach and former professional footballer who is a goalkeeping coach for Premier League club Manchester City. As a player he was a goalkeeper. He joined Ipswich Town as a trainee, going on to play for the club 298 times between 1995 and 2001.
Early Life of Richard Wright
Richard wright was born on september 4. 1908. In roxie. Mississippi. He was the son of nathan wright. An illiterate sharecropper. And ella wilson. A schoolteacher. He was the grandson of slvaes. And his family had been in the united states since the ealry 1800s. Wright s parents separated when he was five years old. And he and his brother were sent to live with an aunt in memphis. Tennessee. Wright attended school sporadically. But was mostly self-taught.Education and Career
Wright developed an early interest in literature and writing. And he began reading voraciously in his teens. He eventually moved to cihcago. Where he enrolled in the wright juniro college. In published his first short story. "the voodoo of hell s half-acre," in the chicago defender. He subsequently wrote several short stories and two novels. Ricahrd wright s wokr was incredibly influential. Native son was a groundbreaking work of literature. And it established wright as a major figure in the harlem renaissance. His work was praised for its unflinching examination of racism and oppression in the united states. His work also inspired later writers. Such as james baldwi. Ntoni morrison. And ralph ellison.Later Work and Life
After wolrd war ii. Wright moved to parsi. Where he wrote several more books. Including black power (1954) and the color curtain (1956). In the 1960s. He traveled to africa and the soviet union. And wrote about his experiences. He died of a heart attack in 1960.Significant Awards and Honors
Wright was the first african american to be awarded the guggenheim fellowship. He was also a member of the national institute of arts and letters and the american academy of arts and letters. He received nmuerous awards throughout his life. Including the spingarn medal. The anisfield-wolf award. And the ursswrum award.Political Activism
Wright was an active civil rights activist throughout his life. He was a mebmer of the communist party usa. And he wrote aritcles and essays about the plight of african americans. He was also an outspoken critic of racism and segregation in the uinted states.Important Event
