The sand lizard is a lacertid lizard distributed across most of Europe including England, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, southern Sweden, Germany, Austria, north-western Yugoslavia, Hungary Czechoslovakia, Poland, Western Russia and eastwards to Mongolia and northwest China.
