My money: "the people have begun to leave their homes again'
Jen Smith lives in Shenzhen , where it is absolutely necessary, a mask to make the outside at all times
My money is a series on how people spend their money - and the sometimes difficult decisions you have to. Here, Jen Smith , a children's playroom, a TV presenter from Shenzhen in southern China, takes us through a week in your life, such as the Land slowly awakens from the Corona-Virus-pandemic.
About Jen
As is in lockdown I was bingeing on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. It starts with one episode, After Dinner , blink, and suddenly it is 3 o'clock in The Morning . YouTube, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram are all banned here, so one would think I would be a binge-free lady who lives after a year and a half in China. Now, these pages are prohibited, unless you have a VPN I pay $120 (£97) a year for me, so Sunday was late in the night, with a lie-in until 10. 30 This Morning .
I'm going to Run mask and all, as it is currently illegal to be outside without one. I make my coffee (purchased in the UK), fruit smoothie (about 20 yuan, $2. 82, £2. 27) and cereals (80 yuan a package), before Cycling to work.
Today is a crazy day in the studio is a bit. I work as a children's TV presenter. My company is benefiting from the lockout, to watch as more children are showing non-stop, i.e., a quick turnaround for us.
We shoot two shows from 2-6 p.m., then "Pause" for a meeting. We discuss the shoot tomorrow, while I have dinner with homemade eggplant curry. It is Normal for the Chinese food, Breakfast, lunch and dinner at work. Normally, The Company gives all the employees for a period of 25 yuan, through a food-ordering app, and the whole of society would eat together. However, due to the current social distancing, the social Time Is in the distant past!
I'm going to make it home for 8pm, some deep-fried cauliflower as a snack (45 yuan) and start The Inevitable Kardashian Orgy.
expenditure: 65 yuan ($9. 10, £7. 37)
workers often have a midday NAP in The OfficeIt is a very early start (7. 30), but the same morning routine. On my bike to work, I notice that the traffic is almost Back To Normal - Shenzhen is inhabited by more than 12 million people, so as you can imagine, Rush Hour is intense. That doesn't change the fact that anywhere you go, you need to scan a QR Code to leave my apartment, with the Passage by The River and always in The Building where I work.
After a morning shoot I'll eat homemade potato curry and settle down for a NAP. NAP is so common in China that people store cots in The Office . I order a coffee and banana chips (20 yuan) for a pick-me-up before the afternoon shoot.
It's St. Paddy's day, so I head to The Local pubs-the area, catch the dinner in a French restaurant (222 yuan), then a couple of drinks (25 yuan, mainly bought, the cycle of men at The Bar for us), before very tipsy home.
expenditure: 242 yuan ($34, £25)
A disposable cover reduces The Risk of transmission of The Virus by touching lift buttonsThe Morning shoot (luckily) has been cancelled, so I nursed a hangover in bed until 11 o'clock, on the dot, I had a phone meeting for a company that I was "plus-size" modeling for the (for context, I'm a UK size 12). I eat a bowl of cereal and more cauliflower (45 yuan), while I watch a movie.
At the 2. 30 an Intern pick me up and we will visa continue to apply to the Government Building , for a new work. Ironically, the picture for my visa is Photoshopped to remove wrinkles, freckles and my curly hair. When I ask why this is being done for a presentation, the trainee responds that the government wants to, it was neat, and the "Chinese way" has been altered in photos.
I do not argue, and an interview before I hand in my passport. The entire process takes about two hours, so that I can order food to My House , while on The Way home (150 yuan for a burger, salad and Cake ! ) I take a taxi across the city, which ends up as 39. 05 yuan.
expenditure: 234. 05 yuan ($33, £27)

8. 30 with a coffee and read before I have a manicure (280 yuan). My nail lady is very concerned about The State of my hands during The Virus , so spends to treat a whopping two and a Half Hours while I watch a movie (0. 99 yuan bought from her). Since the manicure was not as long as I have the time to eat lunch before our fitness shoot, which runs from 2-5. 30. Then I have an appointment log in to a building, I'll shoot in The Morning .
The Building is in the vicinity of a supermarket called Ole (one of the few Western supermarkets), and I Pick Up food for 183 yuan, to cook before you get home, listen to podcasts and preparing for the big day of shooting on Friday.
expenditure: 463 yuan ($64, £52. 5)
Jen filming in front of a green Screen colorful digital background added later in post-productionFriday is actually my strongest day. The Way to work, the Chinese seem to be, is to tell a boss "I want this done now," And Then employees rush to finish it. In General, you will write a script on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday to discuss, then we shoot later in the week. The poor editors, in spite of the mandatory office hours during the week, then work to achieve tirelessly over the weekend, a Sunday Evening appointment.
I start with mashed avocado and a hard boiled egg before work. The Morning shoot will Run from 9. 30-11. 40, and I have an early lunch with homemade curry again, before my regular afternoon NAP. In the afternoon, Three Hours to shoot, so that I have time to pop home and take a shower before you have a live-stream at 6pm. I'll take a taxi to and from the Live Stream , which ends up as 28 yuan.
expenditure: 28 yuan ($3. 92, £3. 18)
A Taxi Driver has improvised a Screen to reduce The Risk of picking up Covid-19 of a passengerFinally the weekend! Although things are slowly getting better in China, after the Corona-Virus outbreak, it doesn't do too much. So I use This Time to write, play my piano and relax inside. Around 3pm it is, I venture outside of the shops, a couple of snacks (159. 60 yuan), before you get in the ring to My Family back in the UK with a homemade Cocktail - a friend of mine in Canada makes a daily live-stream, "quarantinis," where he teaches you How To cocktails!
it is interesting to note that a lot of people have started to leave their houses, but it is still going to be illegal to go outside without a mask, and the temperature checked be hit anywhere. I was even refused entry to a building by a stranger. I think this is because recently, the only new cases is introduced, which is of non-Chinese traveling Back To China.
expenditure: 159. 60 yuan ($22, £18)
Shenzhen U-Bahn system is very quiet,It is another slow day for me, as many foreigners still do not return to China, so most of My Friends are out of the country. I start The Day by scripts, the assessment of potential.
This brings me to 1. 30, and without noticing I haven't eaten yet. I decide to go back for a quick Run and I have to eat mashed avocado and a hard boiled egg.
I home bleach my hair with products purchased in the UK, then the head to be re-edited. About half way through the afternoon I have to take a small break to the practice of the Chinese. I use an app, which is fantastic and free! Definitely not each is worth the download learning this during social distance, so you can get new skills!
For dinner, I'll order online again, a three-dish meal for 160 yuan.
expenditure: 160 yuan ($22. 4, £18)
spend a Total of a week: 1352 yuan ($189, £153)
