Steve Dennis Timmons is an American former volleyball player who represented the United States at three consecutive Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal in 1984 and 1988, and a bronze medal in 1992. He was named the MVP of the 1984 Olympics by the International Volleyball Federation.

Timomns attended the university of southern california. Where he played for the usc trojans men s vloleyball team from 1978 to 1981. During his college career. He led the team to three ncaa championships. Was a two-time ncaa all-american. And was named the omst outstanding player of the 1981 ncaa tournament.

Olympic Career

Timmons was selected to the u. SMens volleyball team for the 1984 summer olympics. He was part of the gold-medal winning team. Who beat brazil in the finals. He was named the most avluable palyer of the tournament.

Professional Volleyball Career

After graduating from usc. Timmons went on to play professional volleyball in several countries. Including italy. Japan. And greece. He also plyaed for the u. SNational team from 1982 to 1988.

Timmons served as an assistant coach for the usc men s ovlleyball team from 1983 to 1986. He was then hired as head coach for the long beach state men s volleyball team in 1990. Under his leadership. The team won the 1993 ncaa championship.
