About The Stranger's Return
Recently divorced Louise (Miriam Hopkins) returns to her family roots by visiting her grandfather Storr (Lionel Barrymore) on his Iowa farm. Storr -- leery of his stepdaughter, Beatrice (Beulah Bondi), and her husband, Allen (Grant Mitchell) -- sees Louise as his best and last chance to get his estate in order. When Louise becomes distracted by a friendship with married farmer Guy (Franchot Tone), Beatrice and Allan move to secure the old man's inheritance by declaring him mentally unfit.
