After witnessing a gang murder in Chicago, Chuck Williams (Victor Jory) flees to the country inn run by his aunt and uncle, Joe and Martha Williams, to evade the criminals. After Joe and Martha depart for St. Louis, surly Chuck's secretive actions rouse the suspicions of their employee, Julie (Pamela Blake), and the sheriff.
