Thomas Russell "Tommy" Durden was an American steel guitarist and songwriter, who is most notable for co-writing Elvis Presley's breakthrough hit, "Heartbreak Hotel". He was born in Morgan County, Georgia, the son of a sharecropper and the youngest of seven children.
