Gene (Gene Autry) inherits half the rights to a mine when his foster father dies, with the other half going to the dead man's East Coast niece, Barbara (Carol Hughes). She comes to town hoping to sell the mine, but Gene is unwilling to part with it, as it employs many disadvantaged people.
