Urmila Sial Kapoor was the sister of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

Early Life

Urmila was born in 1929 in Punjab.British India to Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Devi.She had three brothers.Raj.Shammi and Shashi Kapoor.and two sisters.Krishna and Uma.

Career

Urmila was an actress in the 1950s.appearing in several films in the 1950s.including Aah (1953). Chori Chori (1956) and Anari (1959).She also made a cameo appearance in Raj Kapoor s film Mera Naam Joker (1970).

Later Life

Urmila retired from acting in 1960 and devoted her life to social service.She was an active member of the All India Women s Conference and the All India Women s Organisation.

Family Ties

Urmila was very close to her brothers Raj.Shammi and Shashi Kapoor.She attended the premiere of Raj Kapoor s film Awaara (1951) and was a frequent guest at his home.

Philanthropy

Urmila was a generous philanthropist and donated generously to charities.She was also actively involved in helping the needy and set up a medical center in her hometown of Punjab.
