About USS Hutchins (DD-476)
USS Hutchins (DD-476), a Fletcher-class destroyer, was a ship of the United States Navy named for Lieutenant Carlton B. Hutchins, a naval aviator who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Built by Boston Navy Yard, the destroyer entered service in 1942 and was assigned to the Pacific fleet in March 1943.
