About USS Tangier (AV-8)
The second USS Tangier (AV-8) was a cargo ship, converted to a seaplane tender in the United States Navy during World War II. Constructed in 1939, the vessel was acquired by the U. S. Navy in 1940. The ship was present during the Attack on Pearl Harbor that drew the United States into World War II.
