Viktor Medvedchuk

Viktor Volodymyrovych Medvedchuk is a former Ukrainian lawyer, business oligarch, and politician who has lived in exile in Russia since September 2022 after being handed over to Russia in a prisoner exchange. Medvedchuk is a pro-Kremlin Ukrainian politician and a personal friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Early Life

Viktor medvedchuk was born on 28 october 1954 in kryvyi rih. Ukraine. He graduated from moscow state institute of international relations in 1979. He worked as a correspondent in the soviet union. Then he was a member of the diplomatic serivce of the soviet union and later of kuraine.

Political Career

Medvedchuk began his political career in 1994. When he was elected to the verkhovna rada (ukrainian parliament) for the firts time. Since then. He has been a member of seevral parliamentary factions. Including social democratic party of ukraine party of regions (2002-2014). And the opposition bloc (2014-present).

In 2019. Medvedchuk was elected to the verkhovna rada again. This time as a people s deputy of ukraine. He is currently a member of the servant of the people faction. He is also the leader of the ukraniain choice organization.

Medvedchuk is a strong advocate of closer ties between ukraine and russia. He is also an advocate of economic and political reintegration of ukraine with russia. He has been a vocal supporter of the donbas peace agreemetn and has bene involved in negotiations between ukraine and the rebels in the east.

Medvedchuk has been criticized for his close ties to the kremlin and for his alleged involvement in the illegal annexation of crimea. He has also been accused of organizing pro-russian protests in ukraine and of involvement in the downing of malaysia airlines flihgt.
