Taimour Abdullah Ahmed was the only person to survive the 1988 massacre

"I killed My Mother in front of my eyes. I couldn't protect her. Then I saw two of my sisters killed. "

Taimour Abdullah Ahmed thinks back to The Night in may 1988 as a 12-year-old, he and dozens of other children and women were forced into a desert and the pit, and Iraqi soldiers opened fire on them.

"I get the dazzle recurring return. I think about it, if I go to sleep," says Ahmed, now 43, who remembers in graphic detail how the bullets killed his mother and two of his sisters.

He believes that his other sister was shot Dead , in an adjacent pit.

Ahmed is now on the search for justice for The Dead .

The possession of Some of those killed are still in the ground.

The murders were part of a campaign of collective punishment, known as "Anfal", by the Iraqi government against the Kurdish people in the North. The Authorities claimed that they would be the suppression of a rebellion after Some Kurds were with The Enemy during the 1980 to 1988 Iran-Iraq war.

Human Rights Watch says that up to 100,000 mostly civilians died in the systematic Ethnic Cleansing , with the use of chemical weapons. Kurdish sources put the number at More Than 180,000.

At the time, Ahmed, his parents and sisters lived in Kulajo, a remote village of about 110 people, who were all part of the same family.

"It was difficult to find our village," Ahmed, the BBC says. But he says that Kurds, who were in cooperation with Hussein's regime in Iraq and directed forces there in April 1988.

The Villagers were rounded up and to a military camp, where The Men were separated from women and children. This was The Last Ahmed of his Father .

The Women and children, Some of them are babies in their mother's Arms , which were forced out of the cars and in the pits.

"All of a sudden The Soldiers started to fire on us. "

A bullet in his left arm. "Bullets were fired next To My head, shoulders and legs. The entire floor was shaking. The whole place was full with blood. I still have two shots in the back. I waited for my death," he says.

He survived by a miracle and The Dead played until The Soldiers left. He managed to Get Out from under the body and fled into The Night .

He finally came to The Tent of a Bedouin family that sought after him. He remained with them for three years, until it is in contact with one of his few surviving relatives, and moved back to the North, where he can hide and still had to by The Authorities .

In 1996, he was granted asylum in the United States, where he Lives today.

In 2009, after the fall of Saddam Hussein , Ahmed returned to Iraq and found The Massacre site.

"When I saw The Graves , I was shaking. I cried," he says.

"I was contacted by the Iraqi government and told them that I needed to be informed of a decision about The Graves . "

But in June of this year, they started to dig, so this without any notification from him. They plan to rebury the bodies in the Kurdish region.

When Ahmed heard from friends about what had happened, he flew back from the US.

More Than 170 bodies have already been recovered from The Site , but Ahmed says the people have left the conduct of the exhumations bones and possessions in the ground.

He is now in a stand-off with The Authorities and legal measures taken to prevent them from digging up The Grave , which he believes contains the bodies of his mother and his Two Sisters .

He says to do only if you agree, The Work should be neat and "respectful" and meet other requirements, such as those responsible for The Massacre before the court, the exhumations.

He also wants the massacres to the attention of The World . "I want the cameras clutching to zoom in on the bodies of the innocent children, their mothers, right before the shot," he says.

"I didn't even have a picture of My Mother and sisters. I would like to remain a picture with her," he adds.

Iraqi officials say it is up to the Kurdish authorities to contact the families of The Victims .

Fawd Osman Taha, a spokesman for the Kurdish regional government, says, to check The Remains and marks of identification prior to the contact with relatives.

"We collect the evidence and send it to the special court responsible for the prosecution of those who are guilty," adds Mr Taha.

Ahmed plans to stay in the vicinity of the point until his demands are met.

"I have the feeling that God wanted me to survive for a reason. God gave me a great mission, and The Mission is to talk about those innocent people that can't talk," he says.
