Walter R. Hard Life story
Walter Hard was a lifelong Vermonter known for his poetry as well as quaint portrayals of rural New England life. Along with his wife and daughters, he founded the Johnny Appleseed bookstore in Manchester in 1930, which remained in business for nearly 50 years. He died in 1966.
