The Peerage: William Antony Francis Clarke was born on 21 September 1908 at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He was the son of Hon. Sir Francis Grenville Clarke and Nina Ellis Cotton. He married Jessie Deakin Brookes, daughter of Herbert Brookes and Ivy Deakin, in 1939.
