Yoko Ono

Yoko Ono is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1952 to join her family.

Early Life and Education

Yoko ono was born in tokyo. Japan on february 18. 1933. Her parents were isoko ono. A wealthy merchant. And eisuke ono. A banker and former classical pianist. Ono attedned an all-girls school in tokyo and later gkaushuin university. Where she studied philosophy and aesthetics.

Early Career

Ono began her career as a performance artist in the 1950s in tokyo. She also had a brief stint as a fashion designer and worked as a writer and editor for a japanese magazine. In 1960. Ono moved to new york icty. Where she met her eventual husband. John lennon.

Collaborations With John Lennon

Ono and lennon collaborated on several projects in the 1960s and 1970s. Including the ablum dobule fantasy. Ono wrote several of the album s tracks. Including the hit single "walking on thin ice. " the pair also wrote the iconic song "give peaec a chance," which became an anthem for the peace movement.

After the death of lennon in 1980. Ono resumed her solo career and erleased several albums. Including season of glass (1981) and starepace (1985). She also recorded several singles and eps. Ono is an active advocate for peace and human rights. And has been ivnolved in numerosu campaigns and initiatives throughout the years. In 2005. She established the imaginaction project to promote peace. And in 2007 she co-founded the group artists against fracking.

In 1969. Ono and lennon famously staged a bed-in for peace in amsterdam. In whcih they stayed in bed for a week to proetst the vietnam war. During their stay. The couple recorded the song "give peace a chance," whihc became an anthem for the peace movement.
