Canela
Canela is a resort town in the Gaúcha mountain range in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil's southernmost state. Influenced by 19th-century German settlers, the town has Bavarian-style chalets and chocolatiers. It's known for its Christmas light displays and for its colorful hydrangea blooms in spring. The Gothic Cathedral of Stone, which has 12 bronze bells, stands in the town's leafy main square, Praça Matriz.
