Pasar Baru

Lively Pasar Baru centers on its namesake market, a maze of alleys and arcades with shops selling clothes and knick-knacks, and tiny eateries offering noodles, fish dumplings and meatballs. Colonial-era architecture includes the neoclassical Jakarta Art Building, now a concert hall, and the Gothic-style Jakarta Cathedral. Facing the cathedral, the Istiqlal Mosque has a striking interior featuring steel columns.
