Sonsonate Department
Sonsonate is a coastal province in southwest El Salvador. It's known for the volcanoes of Cerro Verde National Park and the massive Los Cóbanos reef, where warm Pacific waters attract migratory whales. La Ruta de las Flores driving tour winds through the Cordillera de Apaneca mountains, passing the mural-lined town of Juayúa with its weekend food festivals and the Black Christ statue.
