Tobata Ward
Industrial, ocean-facing Tobata Ward is known for Wakato Ohashi, a bright red 1960s suspension bridge that's lit up at night and often photographed from nearby Ohashi Park. Inland, Yomiya Park has blossoming plum and cherry trees, extensive iris gardens, and the West Japan Industrial Club, a 1912 art nouveau building. European and Japanese paintings and sculptures are displayed at the hilltop Kitakyūshū City Museum.
