Tongeren
Tongeren is a city in eastern Belgium, near the Dutch border. A modern building houses its Gallo-Roman Museum. Inside are displays of weapons, pots and jewelry ranging from prehistory to Roman times, when the city was a major trading hub. In the main square is the 19th-century statue of Ambiorix, a local king who defeated the invading Romans in 54 B. C. The remains of the medieval walls surround the city center.
