Cúcuta is a Colombian city at the Venezuelan border, known for its military history. The Battle of Cúcuta Monument marks the spot where military leader Simón Bolívar reputedly rallied his troops in 1813. El Malecón is a riverside promenade. The Clock Tower building has art exhibitions. Cristo Rey hill has a statue of Christ and city views. General Santander's birthplace museum is in Villa del Rosario, to the south.
