Kurume
Kurume is an inland city on Japan's Kyushu Island. Beside the Chikugo River, the Suiten-gū Shrine is a complex of temples dedicated to the water gods. Ishibashi Museum has works by Japanese painters influenced by Western styles. To the southeast, ancient Kōra Taisha Shrine stands on Mount Kora. In spring, the slopes of nearby Kurume Forest Azalea Park are covered in thousands of blooming trees.
