Laid-back Parede is home to Avencas and Parede beaches, overlooked by fine-dining restaurants and terrace bars on the waterfront promenade. Cozy pastry shops and seafood cafes center around Avenida da República. The 19th-century Palacete de Alfredo César de Menezes Vasconcelos has mock-Gothic styling, and there are sunset views over the Atlantic from the graffitied ruins of RAC 2ª Bataria da Parede army barracks.
