San Martin

San Martin

San Martín is a region in northern Peru characterized by Amazon rainforest. Lively Tarapoto, the region's largest city, lies amid cloud forest in the north. Nearby are jungle waterfalls like Ahuashiyacu and Shapaja, and clear lakes like Lago Lindo and Laguna Azul (Sauce). In the southwest, the mostly inaccessible Río Abiseo National Park shelters rare and endangered species across a range of ecoregions and altitudes.
